KARUNALAYAM CHILDRENS ORPHANAGE
Karunalayam is a centre near Hyderabad that began as a hospital treating AIDS patients. As some patients died and left their children behind staff at the hospital began to care for the children, and the orphanage was born. Most of the children are infected with the HIV virus and some are abandoned there as infants. It is currently home to over 100 children ranging in age from a few months to 19 years. The staff dedicate their lives to the effective running of the centre and work hard to ensure each child has the opportunity to thrive in often desperate situations. For this they need our help and support. Over the years we have seen the huge impact that medicine, nutritious food and an education can make on the life of a child who would otherwise be left to die or left with no hope. Thrive India hopes to meet some of the needs of each child over the coming years and see lives transformed by planting a simple seed of hope.
